In 1995, twins Randy and Jesse Toor converted their apple orchard on Black Sage Road into a vineyard to grow reds for Domaine de Chaberton Estate Winery in Langley. The initial plan was to operate their own modest winery, selling a few thousand cases a year. However, demand for their wines propelled them in 2006 to complete a major winery expansion, giving Desert Hills a capacity now for 10,000 cases a year. The Toors now own two vineyards on Black Sage Road and one near Osoyoos, with special emphasis on red varieties. They vintaged their first zinfandel in 2007.
